The Protected Geographical Indication "Cebolla de La Mancha" is a quality mark of the European Union that belongs to PROCECAM, Association of Onion Producers of Castilla-La Mancha
.Castilla-La Mancha is the main onion producing region in Spain, where more than 60% of the total onion in this country is grown, and where the "Recas Type" or conservation onion is the onion with the highest yields and highest quality. The "Recas type" onion is characterized by its copper exterior color, for being a large caliber onion, for its excellent conditions to be stored at room temperature, and for its possibility of exporting. 9 out of every 10 Spanish onions exported are of Castilla-La Mancha origin.
"RECAS TYPE" ONIONS.
The "Recas type" onion is the traditional onion grown in the region of Castilla-La Mancha. It comes from a genetic selection that has been carried out in the town of Recas (province of Toledo), and from which an onion of excellent quality has been obtained, both in storage qualities and in organoleptic qualities.
